Rachel Lynch, Author From

From Fells to Crime Novels

Rachel Lynch's journey from the serene landscapes of Cumbria to the bustling streets of London and beyond has woven a tapestry of experiences that deeply influences her work as a crime novelist.

Growing up surrounded by the lakes and fells of Cumbria, Rachel's connection to nature and adventure was established early. The call of the fells became a regular part of her life, with hikes shaping her love for exploration.

Her academic pursuits led her to the University of Lancaster, where she delved into the study of history. The allure of teaching prompted her to train as an educator in London, setting the stage for the next chapter of her life.

London not only offered a dynamic environment for teaching but also introduced Rachel to a new chapter in her personal life. She fell in love with an Army Officer, marking the beginning of a thirteen-year adventure that would take her across the globe. Teaching in Cyprus and experiencing the diverse cultures of different countries added layers to her already rich life.

After starting a family, Rachel embraced a change in career, venturing into personal training and sports therapy. However, her true passion, writing, continued to beckon. In 2016, she made the bold decision to transition into full-time writing, a move that marked the beginning of her career as a published author.

Rachel's talent and dedication caught the attention of Peter Buckman of the Ampersand Agency, who became her literary representative. This pivotal moment opened doors, leading to a publishing deal with Canelo in 2018. The Kelly Porter series, consisting of gripping crime novels, has been a resounding success, with over a million copies sold globally.

Her storytelling prowess isn't confined to series alone. "The Rich," Rachel's first standalone psychological thriller, is set for release on November 8, 2023, promising readers a new dimension of her narrative prowess.

Today, Rachel Lynch resides near London with her husband, two children, and Poppy the terrier. Her novels, rooted in the contrasts of compassion and the shadows of crime, reflect not only her keen observations of human nature but also the varied chapters of her own life's story. As readers eagerly await her upcoming releases, Rachel continues to draw inspiration from her experiences, ensuring that her literary journey remains as captivating as the stories she weaves.

Truly intense! The author has come into her own with this second book of the Kelly Porter series. The final twist with identification of the killer will be a huge surprise!

Despite the serial killer, this book really made me want to visit the Lake District, it sounds absolutely beautiful.

I was thrown a bit by this book, I kind of assumed the story would continue somewhat with what happened in the last book, it seemed like that wasn't quite finished. And like the last book, I have unanswered questions. Not major loose ends, but it feels a little unfinished (like the person of interest who disappeared along with their entire family, what happened?).

Time has passed since the events of "Dark Game" and now someone is violently killing women and leaving them in scenic spots. The killer reveal was a nice twist, I didn't see that coming. Kelly is on the case, and I thought the author did a little better with giving more information/personality to the other officers, it made it a little easier to keep track of who was who.

On the personal front, Kelly's life is fairly messy: on/off boyfriend, mom with cancer, unable to get along with her sister. I'm interested to see how the sister dynamic has changed in the next book. Hopefully there will be more books to come in this series.
