Born in Manchester in 1963, Shipton's journey into the world of literature has been marked by creativity, passion, and a commitment to nurturing the love of reading in children.

Shipton's academic journey led him to Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and Manchester University, where he pursued two master's degrees in Classics and Philosophy. His thirst for knowledge and love of learning would later find expression in the captivating narratives he would create for young minds.

After completing his studies, Shipton embarked on an adventure to Istanbul, where he taught English for a year. Four years later, he introduced readers to "Bug Muldoon and the Garden of Fear," a book that showcased his talent for storytelling and his ability to create captivating worlds.

Not content to limit himself to the United Kingdom, Shipton and his family embarked on a new chapter, relocating to Wisconsin, United States. There, he continued his work as a freelance writer and editor, further expanding his literary horizons.

Under the pen name Paul Cooper, he ventured into writing books for younger readers, ensuring that his literary contributions catered to a wide age range of children.
