I am so happy I got this in my Owlcrate box because I’m not sure I would’ve read it otherwise and now it is in my top 5 reads of the year.

This book was a masterpiece. From begining to end I was hooked and loving every minute of reading. I loved her book Spells for Forgetting, but this book was even better. The characters were so dynamic and well written. The secret of the curse and why all the Farrow women go mad in the end was so intriguing and made me want to know more. I loved being able to slowly piece together the mystery with June. There were some things I guessed and was just excited to see how they played out, and other things I didn’t expect at all that literally shocked me and made me stop reading to collect my thoughts.

I cannot wait to read what Adrienne Young does next!

This book was very well written. I liked it very much. My advice to any future readers is not to think to much about the science if you do the book falls apart.

I have to say, this book might just be my favorite of 2023. It was my first time reading anything by Adrienne Young, and I completely fell in love with her storytelling.

The main character, June, was so relatable that I found myself attached to her from the very beginning. This is a rare occurrence for me, as I usually require a series of books to develop an attachment to characters. But with June, it was different. I was hooked from the start.

The world-building and magic in this book were so well-written that I found it hard to put the book down. As I got closer to the end, I just wanted more and more. June's frustration at not knowing her past was palpable, and the twists and turns of the path she had to take to figure it out were absolutely spellbinding.

There was so much that I liked about this novel: the time-travel aspect, the strong female characters, the mystery, the romance… But what made me LOVE this book was the writing. I’ve also read Spells for Forgetting, which was just as stellar. I will read anything this author writes, even her grocery list. Simply fabulous.

A truly inspirational tale of love that traverses generations and timelines.

Young's writing transports you seamlessly between two vastly different time periods in American history and the family of women who lived throughout them all.

June Farrow was an amazing protagonist and I was so invested in this story from the get-go. I love magical realism, but I will admit that this book definitely had me confused at times and was a little bit of a brain bender- but I loved how the story unfolded and the overall message. The love story was so sweet and kind of unexpected- it really had me rooting for this couple despite their past and each of their flaws.

The plot of the book is unique. The premise is a generational family of female time-shifters. But it was a slow read. I felt like the author was telling me how the characters felt rather than let them unfold and develop. For me anyway, the main character wasn't all that appealing. It was way too confusing to keep the Farrow women straight. The ending was a nice twist. There were too many holes in the plot line. I described it as "tedious" because it's one of those books that's too good to not finish, but not good enough to finish quickly.

The Unmaking of June Farrow is such a perfect Fall read! The atmosphere, the mystery, the bit of spookiness and anticipation, the romance, and the time traveling magical realism. I had a hard time putting this book down, and even when I put it down to go to bed at night, I found myself tossing & turning thinking about it, trying to work out the mystery. It was just soo good!
